6 de Mayo. I got up and realized I forgot to call Christina on her birthday--Yikes! So, called and sang and chatted and was forgiven for my transgressions...thank you sister. Forgetting someones birthday tends to make one hungry. So the great Mandilla and I left our pouting Rufus at the door and shot off to the 5 Spot. Two Five Spot breakfasts and several cups of coffee later we drove downtown, parked in my garage (right next to a black Ferrari 308 GTB, my childhood dream car), and walked down to the Seattle Art Museum. It was a pretty big show today. They had a 35 hour grand re-opening and we could check out the museum for free. Suffice to say the line was long, so we had to get timed tickets to get in. While we were waiting, we walked around and checked out the festivities. Across the street at an art gallery, two girls were in a small enclosed display window for the entirety of the grand reopening. They were taking pictures of people coming to look at them and you could write messages back and forth on the glass. When we finally got to go in, Amy joined us to check out the museum. I'm not sure if she had much fun or not, because I kept asking her tons of questions about Jackson Pollock and abstract art. I tried not to respond like my father would have. We got a coffee like good Seattleites and went home. To check out the link to SAM and its new re-opening click on the art museum's link: http://www.seattleartmuseum.org
